Structure & Process

Our training is divided into three successive parts (each bookable separately) to ensure that you develop a comprehensive understanding and practical skills in canine fitness:

Part 1 – Online Theory & Practice:

Dive into the world of canine fitness through our online course, which combines theory and practice in 18 modules. Duration is approximately 6 months (access for 12 months). You will be accompanied by our community and regular group calls via Zoom (2x per month). This part concludes with successful theory and practice tests, resulting in a participation certificate that documents your attendance and completion of this section.

Part 2 – Workshop:

For those who want to further implement what they have learned into practice, we offer a workshop guided by an experienced coach. Participation in the workshop is a prerequisite for certification and allows you to apply your knowledge under guidance in real situations. Successful completion of Part 1 is a prerequisite for participation.

Part 3 – Certification:

The certification lasts approximately three months and involves the creation of case studies, in which you independently apply what you have learned. After successfully presenting a case study and passing an oral examination, you will receive your certificate, confirming your competence and skills in canine fitness. This final step marks the completion of your training and the beginning of your career as a qualified canine fitness expert.
Successful completion of Parts 1 and 2 is a prerequisite.

Katharina Mattioli

Certified Canine Phisical Therapist | Cert. Canine Trainer | C.C.F.T. Certified Canine Fitness Trainer

Dogs, canine fitness, and equipment are my passion! For over 12 years, I have been accompanying dog owners, trainers, and therapists on their journey in canine fitness.

In 2012, I founded Flexiness® Canine Fitness Equipment with the goal of making training with professional equipment better, safer, and more effective. At the same time, I began developing my own dog fitness program, FlexinessXFitness®, to ensure that people and their dogs are trained correctly. I am particularly committed to helping dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes increase their physical and mental performance and reduce the risk of injury in everyday life and/or sports.

My areas of expertise are prevention, rehabilitation, and handling. I focus on promoting good posture and fostering harmonious teamwork through body language.

FAQ

Do you have any questions? You might find the answer here…
Do I need special equipment?

At the beginning of our course, nothing specific is required. During the course, each participant will discover for themselves which resources or equipment are best suited for their training. If anyone needs assistance, I am personally available, or the topic can be discussed in our community. It’s important to me that professionals work with professional equipment designed for dogs. However, we also provide options for those with limited budgets. We understand that financial constraints may play a role, so we have compiled various options and resources accessible to every budget. Our priority is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in our program and benefit from the advantages of a holistic canine fitness training.

Do I need to submit videos of my work?

In ‘Part 1 – Online’, no submission is required, but I encourage all participants to share videos of their work in the community so that we can discuss and learn from each other collectively.

Do I need any special prior knowledge?

No prior knowledge is required to participate. We warmly welcome everyone interested in exploring the world of canine fitness, regardless of their background. However, it can be advantageous if you already have some experience in dog training. If you have basic knowledge of handling dogs, whether through personal experience or previous training or courses, you may find it easier to navigate the course content and understand the concepts better. These experiences can help you adapt more quickly and develop your skills in canine fitness training more effectively..

Costs?

Part 1 – CHF 1250.00
Part 2 – CHF 450.00
Part 3 – CHF 450.00

Do I have to complete the program with just 'one' dog?

In Part 1, it is recommended to work with as many different dogs as possible, as each dog is individual and this naturally affects the training. It’s important not only to work with your own dog, especially if you’re considering making canine fitness your profession. By working with different dogs, we can develop a broader understanding of the needs and quirks of various breeds and personalities, thus enhancing our skills as canine fitness professionals.

My dog has a pre-existing condition, can I still participate?

In the field of canine fitness, our main focus is to work exclusively with healthy dogs or those expressly cleared for active movement training by a veterinarian. We do not perform therapeutic measures but may be involved in supporting a dog’s recovery after therapy. This means that we typically do not work with dogs requiring specific treatment or rehabilitation measures, but rather focus on preventive fitness and performance management.

However, it should be noted that participants who are themselves therapists or veterinarians may be able to treat and care for their own patients or clients in their professional capacities. In such cases, there may be an exception, and these participants may naturally apply parts of the program to dogs with specific therapeutic needs.

Is the program suitable for dogs of all sizes?

Our program is designed to accommodate dogs of all sizes. Whether you have a small or a large dog, our exercises and equipment setups are tailored to accommodate the needs of different dog sizes. In the videos, we have made sure to demonstrate exercises and corresponding equipment setups for both small and large dogs. This allows all participants, regardless of their dog’s size, to learn the proper techniques and perform the exercises safely and effectively. We want to ensure that every dog receives the best possible support to improve their fitness and health, regardless of their size or breed.

BODY AWARENESS

Body awareness contributes to better posture, balance, and coordination. It is important for improving overall fitness and reducing the risk of injury.

COORDINATION

The body’s ability to use various muscle groups and joints harmoniously to execute precise and controlled movements is required in many activities or sports.

FOCUS

The ability to maintain focus and concentration under special circumstances improves resilience and can lead to enhanced performance.
